Complete Beginner — Where Do I Actually Start Making Money Online?

N

Hi everyone! Found EarnifyHub through Google. The amount of real information here is incredible.

My situation:

  • 24 years old, 9-5 at $35K/year
  • 10 hours/week available
  • $200 budget (don't want to lose it)
  • No specific skills yet
  • Goal: $500 extra/month in 6 months

  • I've read about freelancing, surveys, dropshipping, affiliate marketing, YouTube... it's overwhelming.

    Questions:

    1. What's realistic for a beginner with 10hrs/week and $200?

    2. Should I learn a skill first or start earning immediately?

    3. Is $500/month in 6 months achievable?

Not looking for get-rich-quick. I understand it takes real work. I just want an honest starting point from people who've done it.

Welcome! With 10hrs/week and $200: Hours 1-3 on Prolific (immediate income, zero barrier). Hours 4-10 learning one skill — copywriting or basic web design. Six months of consistent effort on this split is very realistic for $500/month. The key word is consistent — most people try for 3 weeks and stop.

Realistic path with your constraints: Week 1-2, set up Prolific + Respondent and start qualifying. Month 1-2, earn $150-300 from surveys while learning a skill. Month 3-4, apply the skill for income (first clients at lower rates is fine). Month 5-6, raise rates as skill income grows. The $500/month target is doable but requires treating the 10 hours as a real second job.
